Inspired by the river’s original, natural course with islands, gravel banks and tree-lined shores, the newly designed Wupperpark stands out as a green oasis with a strong identity. Serving as both, a riverfront park and an urban plaza by the water, it creates a seamless connection between nature and city life.
Where possible, the existing tree population was preserved and complemented by new plantings. Flowing, dynamic bands of light asphalt symbolise the Wupper, abstractly reclaiming its place in the urban landscape. The park emerges as an independent, scenic symbol in the city.
