In 1886, Jakob Leonhards laid the foundation for our company, which is now considered a leading provider in gardening and landscaping. Passed down through generations we have preserved our rich heritage while continuously evolving to shape a greener future. Today, as a family business in its fifth generation, we remain committed to innovation and sustainability.
What once started with local projects has expanded into large-scale developments. Our expertise now extends to the greening of roofs and facades. We are excited about future advancements and look forward to bringing more innovative and sustainable projects to life.
1886
Jakob Leonhards founds a garden and landscaping company in Wuppertal and shortly afterwards expands it to include a tree nursery in Haan.
1921
Three years after the end of the German Empire and the First World War, Jakob’s sons, Friedrich and Wilhelm, take over the business. The company’s name is changed to ‘Jakob Leonhards Söhne’.
1958
Hans Rudolf Leonhards takes over the business in the third generation together with his father Friedrich and moves to the current location at Wiedener Kreuz.
1990
Hans Christian Leonhards and Renate Leonhards take over the family business. Hans Christian manages the gardening and landscaping, while Renate manages the specialist store until 1999.
2013
Johann Christoph Leonhards joins the company after graduating from Weihenstephan and takes over the management in 2013.
