Küppersmühle

Duisburg

The Küppersmühle Museum operated as a mill until 1972 and is now a significant industrial monument with an exhibition area of 6,100 m². As part of the outdoor redesign, approximately 4,000 m² of paths and plazas were newly paved, including 1,500 m² of reclaimed natural stone. Additionally, 35 maple-leaved plane trees were planted, each already 15 meters tall and 40 years old at the time of delivery.

To accommodate this transformation, 1,500 cubic meters of contaminated soil had to be removed and replaced with specially prepared soil capable of absorbing, storing and releasing water. The trees have rooted well and the square now serves as an inviting “break room” for relaxation on warm summer days.
